As the aftermarket car community continues to progress, the amount of talented photographers is also on the rise, and Toyo Tires' Shutter Space event is helping to shed some light on both groups. Toyo asked photographers to submit photos based on a theme which, this year, was the "Golden Hour" that magical, perfect natural light that every photographer looks forward to.

This year's Shutter Space was held at the Chuck Jones Center For Creativity in Costa Mesa, Calif. where all 21 finalists had their photos exhibited for everyone to see. While it was awesome to see works of art on the wall, it doesn't beat seeing cars in person. We curated some cars ourselves and invited a few cars to be on display inside the venue. Jay Garcia brought out the first complete Aimgain Nissan GT-R and tells us that even Aimgain in Japan doesn't have a fully completed version yet. Long Tran brought two of his cars from the LTMW stable including a Pandem Skyline R32 and a Liberty Walk Audi R8. Frederick Tissera also brought an R32 on Volk Racing ZE40s and a fully built RB26 good for 550hp to the wheels (on low boost). Perched in the front window for passerbys to drool over was Allen Lugue's Run Free AE86. If you needed a little more Euro in your life, Michael Wu's RWB Porsche 993 will set you straight. We heard he flew from China just to be at the event. Outside the exhibit was the designated car meet area where the guys from IDL Design displayed some serious builds.

Chen Stan, Senior Manager of Events and Sponsorships at Toyo Tires, says, "It was a great turnout this year. I especially love this event because it raises awareness and gives amateur automotive photographers a chance to have their work seen on a grander scale. Also, by having some of the top car builds exhibited in the gallery, brings both automotive and art cultures together under one roof."

At the end of the day, Tyler Lee's rolling shot of a Ferrari 458 took first place. We're excited to work with him in the future and equally stoked to see what other automotive photographers we'll meet at the next Shutter Space event.
